Activity Report

On September 15^th , we had an exchange meeting with Mathiro Jose Sindete who is exchange student from Benin.
 
We can know about Benin’s culture, foods and traditional dance.  We enjoyed its dance and it was a little hard.
If we have a chance, we would like to visit Benin
 
In this year, it is difficult to go overseas due to the influence of COVID-19, so we plan to actively carry out these activities.
 

Hello.
My name is Akira Miyazaki.I’m 10^th leader of STEPs.
Due to the influence of coronavirus, the award ceremony of the Dean of Science and Engineering was canceled, so I was worried whether a new member would come in, but four members joined us.

I would like to introduce three students who have talked about their aspirations.

Hello, I am Yugo Takai, a third year student. My major is urban engineering.
The reason why I decided to join STEPs is that I want to improve my English ability through activities of STEPs. Now, I don’t have the confidence to speak in English. However, I will actively participate in the activities of STEPs and try to make the experience valuable for me. Thank you.

Hello. I am Yamashita Sora, 4th year student of department of physics. I decided to join STEPs　from this April.
Due to the experience in STEPs , I expect my life will be better and I’ll be happy. In additional, work in STEPs will fix my bad side. It is that I’m not good at communicating, conversation, and so on...
Recently , I am excited because of many chances of talking with people of other department. And visiting overseas! I have never been to overseas... Now I don’t know the ABC of such thing, so I’m looking forward to new adventure.

Hello. I am Yuki Hada, first year graduate student. This is third year of my STEPs activity. In previous two years, I could brush up myself by having an interest of international society and learning English. Also, I learned difficulty of putting a team together by acting as a leader. Because I am going to act as a senior student among STEPs from this year, I am going to try to be a coordinator and say my opinion actively for enriching our activity by utilizing experience of previous leader.

We are currently active through online. We plan to gradually return to normal activities while checking the status of the influence of coronavirus.
This year, I plan to carry out activities that take advantage of the characteristics of STEPs, an international exchange organization of the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

 

 We reported our achievements of overseas training to the president of Saga University. Also, we reported it in professor meeting.
 
 In visiting the president office, the president gave us some valuable talks.
And we got feedbacks that
1. we have some valuable experiences.
2. we can learn not only foreign countries, but also Japan.
3. he want us to continue our activities more positively.
4. he wish the activities like us become outside of Science and Engineering Faculty.
 
 We reconfirm that we do fabulous activities. And we decided to act more positively while appreciating our opportunities.

In this year's overseas training, we visited Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

Not everyone of STEPs was able to participate it. But everyone learned many things. Especially, member who visited to Vietnam. Some STEPs members had never been to overseas before this training. Visiting Vietnam must have be amazing and exciting for them.

In Vietnam, we visited two universities, UIT and VNUHCM-US. We talked with students in English and visited laboratories. Then, many STEPs members found it difficult to speak English. We should keep practicing. 

In laboratories we visited, students and teachers research about information technology, especially cyber security. They seemed study and research harder than Japanese students. We thought we should study and research than any other countries.

We also visited the War Remnants Museum in Vietnam.  There were photos and materials on the Vietnam War. We learned the background of Vietnam and felt again that peace is not a matter of course. We have to live carefully everyday.
 
Finally, we would like to thank the many people who supported this training.  We will make use of what we have gained in this training and continue to study further.

Hello, I’m Akira Miyazaki. I’m a third-grade student in mechanical system engineering department.
For myself who is not good at English, I thought that international exchange through overseas training was a chance to make up for what I lacked. So, I decided to join STEPs.
Of course, this is a chance to improve my English skills. Further, this also is the opportunity to learn about other universities’ studies and foreign cultures, so I will do my best to grow myself.

Hello everyone! My name is Kento Saito and I am a 4th year student studying electrical and electronic engineering. 
As of this semester, I became a member of STEPs.  The reason I joined STEPs is because I heard that members are able to learn about different countries through cultural exchange and interactions.
I would like to be able to communicate with many people and have a fruitful experience through the activities of STEPs. Thank you.

Hello. I am Akihiko Nishimura, a first-year master’s student. I joined STEPs last spring and worked on activities centering on English time. In this year’s activities, one of our purposes is to be able to discuss the specialized content of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and so English presentation of each member’s research content is planned. By the way, I think it is important to boost exchanges because of the character of STEPs that consist of the persons with good grade on each department. So, I wish to hold a kind of drinking party besides learning.
